What you'll need to fill in

This script has 10 details to fill in before you read it. Have these to hand — the customizer above updates the script as you type:

  • Generic Product Category
  • Solve a Deep Human Frustration
  • Product Name
  • Time
  • Number
  • One Key Feature
  • Core Value or Mission
  • Milestone
  • Product
  • Market Shift

It also contains 1 stage direction in grey. Those are instructions to you, not lines to say out loud — they mark where to pause, listen, or wait for a response.

That timing assumes about 130 words a minute, which is a normal conversational pace. If you are presenting to a room you will likely go slower; if you are nervous you will go faster. Read it aloud once and time yourself before it matters.

When to use this script

Use this when retention is your problem. YouTube punishes slow starts harder than almost any other format — most of the audience you lose is gone before the first minute, usually because the opening wandered. A scripted hook and a clear structure fix the part of the video that actually decides its performance.

It is most valuable for anything you will record more than once. Channel intros, sponsor reads, and tutorial outros all benefit from being written once properly and reused, because you stop re-improvising the same thirty seconds every upload.

Making it sound like you

  • Rewrite the hook until it makes a specific promise. "Today we're talking about productivity" is not a hook; "I tested this for thirty days and it did not work" is.
  • Cut your throat-clearing. Anything before the hook — greetings, channel plugs, housekeeping — belongs later or nowhere.
  • Say the thing the viewer came for early, and let the depth be the reason to stay rather than the payoff you withhold.
  • Keep sponsor language in your own voice. Brands supply the claims; you supply the phrasing, and audiences hear the difference immediately.

Reading it out loud

Get the script as close to the lens as your setup allows — the eye-line offset that is barely noticeable on a call is very noticeable in a cut, edited video. If you have moved past a webcam onto a proper camera, that usually means a second display near the lens or an over-lens rig.

Questions about this script

How long does this crowdfunding campaign video script take to read?

The script runs to about 116 words, which is roughly 54 sec at a normal speaking pace of around 130 words a minute. Your own pace will vary, so time one read-through before you rely on the number.

What do I need to prepare before using this script?

There are 10 details to fill in: Generic Product Category, Solve a Deep Human Frustration, Product Name, Time, Number, One Key Feature, and a few more. Enter them in the customizer and the script updates as you type, then opens straight in the teleprompter.

Does scripting make YouTube videos feel less authentic?

Only if you read it flatly. Scripting fixes structure and pacing, which is what viewers actually experience as quality. Rewrite the script in your own spoken phrasing and the result sounds more like you, not less.

Should I script the whole video or just the hook?

At minimum the hook and the outro, because those are the highest-leverage and most-repeated parts. Whether the middle is scripted depends on how well you know the material — script it if you tend to ramble, outline it if you do not.
